September 22, 2012 / Damallsvenskan / Göteborg FC 3 - 0 Kristianstad DFF
It was a clear 3-0 victory at Valhalla as Göteborg FC took advantage of their chances in the game.
Anna Ahlstrand scored the opening goal in the 28th minute after receiving a pass from Anita Asante. Her shot sailed into the roof of the net and was unreachable for Kristianstad’s goalkeeper.
Problems in defense for Kristianstad also appeared clearly when Göteborg scored its final two goals in the second half. American forward Christen Press retrieved the ball after a mistake from the opposing side, advanced forward, and rounded Swedish national team goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl. She put the ball in the net in the 72nd minute, and made the scoreline 2-0 in favor of Göteborg. Unfortunately for Lindahl, she injured herself when she twisted her left knee in the hunt for Press and ball.
The nail in the coffin and the 3-0 scoreline came from Göteborg’s new American midfielder, Yale Averbuch, after a corner. Averbuch shot the ball at random in a seemingly difficult angle out from the right, but the ball sailed into the goal behind a noticeably stagnant Lindahl.
“We took over the game in the first half, lost it again at the beginning of the second. But then I think we finish the game better and won fairly,” says Göteborg goalscorer Anna Ahlstrand.
Now, Göteborg must prepare for their Champions League game this upcoming Wednesday. With their 3-0 win against Kristianstad, the team now has five straight victories, and a burst of team confidence. [x] [x]
