It became a 1-0 victory (1-0) for KGFC in away encounter with ZFK Spartak in the first round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The match was played in the sweltering Serbian heat. Spartak had a better start and put high pressure, but made no direct scoring opportunities.
After about twenty minutes into the match, KGFC took control of their opponents and clearly became the better team. Yael Averbuch had a venomous free-kick that was saved by the goalkeeper, and Christen Press had a good shot that the keeper also narrowly saved.
Minutes before the halftime break, KGFC took the lead thanks to Camille Levin. Levin’s 39th minute shot later proved to be the winning goal. [x] [x]
KGFC will meet ZFK Spartak at home in Gothenburg on Wednesday, October 3 for the second leg of the Round of 32.

Christen has now played a total of three Champions League games, but she has yet to score her first goal. 
Christen’s first appearance in the Champions League came on March 14, 2012 against Arsenal Ladies. It was also her first official appearance for KGFC.
Goalscorer Camille Levin was a teammate of Christen’s back at Stanford.
Christen has now scored 15 goals in 16 games (league) and 19 goals in 24 games (all-time) for her team.
